Utah Trip

On April 15th, as Kurt was working away on the last day of tax season, my sister Heidi and I woke up early and drove 6 hours to Lamoure, ND for my friend, Mark Buerkle's mother's wake. We actually drove all that way, for only a short 45 min with the family. Although a very short visit, it was very nice to see Mark, meet his wife, children, brother and father, and just catch up. It had been a long 11 years since Mark and my last meeting. I am hoping that our next visit will be under much better circumstances, and will be a bit longer...

Heidi and I left Lamoure by 3:30 p.m. headed back to Bismarck for a yummy Red Lobster dinner, and then we were back to Minot by late evening. Heidi continued on to Crosby, and my BFF from highschool Jessa was ever so kind to let me sleep on her couch from 1:00-3:00 a.m. when I had to get up and get ready to be to the air port by 4:00....

Kurt and I flew out of Minot at 5:00, and arrived in Salt Lake by 9:00 a.m. We were on the go from the moment we got there. The people that we stayed with were friends of Kurts from highschool. It is amazing how Facebook can reunite people. His friend Susan, whom he hadn't spoken to in 27 yrs reunited on facebook in January, and became the best of friends. Now we have all become very good friends, and life is good. :)

While in Utah, we visited the planetarium, walked the Gateway down town Salt Lake City, strolled around Salem pond, went and say the movie "The Last Song," enjoyed much great company with both Susan and her husband, as well as, Susan's sister Barbara and her husband, and just plain relaxed. Oh ya, and most importantly went and saw Daughtry.. Best concert ever....
Susan and I escaped for a morning of pampering. We both got pedicures and manicures. I too experimented with a spray tan. The men enjoyed a morning or Racketball. What better way to end the day than with icecream. In the mall in Provo they have an icecream place called "Sub Zero" you add your toppings to a liquid icecream mixture and then they add liquid Nitrogen to it and you watch it freeze so cool.

All in all, Utah was nice. They have many family activites that I think the children would one day love to do. Who knows, we may just have to go back and visit it again!!!!!!!!

Easter 2010

Easter weekend got off to a real nice start on Thursday night, when Grant and I went to Maundy Thursday church service. I am very proud of Grant. He pays very close attention in church, and last Sunday he had heard the pastor mention Maundy Thursday and how Jesus washed all of the people's feet. Our pastor offered to wash all who wanted their feet's washed, and Grant was very fascinated by this. He insisted that just him and I attend church. I have never seen a boy glow as much as he did at church that night. It was a very nice service, and I felt like a million bucks following the sermon.

Friday the kids and I went to Williston and spent an afternoon shopping for Easter gifts. The kids were good, but it would have been so nice to have an extra pair of hands to help.

Saturday I was busy as a bee getting the house cleaned up. This time of year, I am forced to play the "single mom" roll, and things get very piled up. With the weather as nice as it was, the kids were able to play outside for 3 hrs straight. It was so nice to get the extra things done. That afternoon, we took the kids to the Easter Egg hunt in town. Chalsey and Brad Anderson, our friends from Estevan also came down for the event. The hunt is always short, and sweet, but the kids filled their baskets, and had a lot of fun.

After the hunt, I took the kids to town so they could scooter around, and then we all went to Mr. K's as a family for supper. Then it was home to bed. I stayed up playing the Easter bunny, and Kurt worked until a late 4:00 a.m. It was nice however for him to sleep from 4:00 until 7:30 and wake up with the kids, so that they could hunt for their baskets.

After the Easter hunt, we drove to Estevan for Easter brunch. It was a very nice and sweet way to spend Easter. We hurried home, so that Kurt could get back to work, and the kids bounced in between outside and inside. They were all very excited to play with their new Ninetendo Ds's. Never have the kids been so appreciative. It was truely worth it to see them so happy. We spent a little more than usual, but with such a long tax season, and so much time away from Kurt, it was nice to see them glow.

This evening, I got the convertable out, and took the kids for a ride. I am thinking that I am going to drive it more this summer. It was a lot of fun. :)

Well all in all, Easter was very nice, and things were great.. So many wonderful things to be thankful for. A great husband, beautiful children, and amazing friends. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross so that we could all be saved. :)

Happy Easter Everybody!!! More pictures to come....

Every year the Gymnastics club puts on their annual exhibition, bake sale and Boy Scout spagetti feed. The kids work really hard through out the year practising for the big show, so this really wraps it up for the year.
Now that gymnastics is over, it is time to focus on dance. Dance recital is at the end of May, so we will be extra busy with costumes, pictures, lessons on stage, and dress rehearsals. Oddly enough time is going so fast. It really seems as though just yesterday we were preparing for last year's dance recital.
Tax season is now comming to an end as well. With less than 2 weeks to go, it will be nice to have a "husband" again.
It is kind of funny though because the kids and I have such a routine going right now that it will be weird to have Kurt home at 5:00 every night. Man, or man it is going to be a change.
April 16th Kurt and I fly out to Salt Lake City Utah to visit some friends of Kurt that he hasn't seen in several years. Not exactly my idea of a peaceful retreat after a long miserable tax season. Ideally someplace warm, sunny, and full of sand and pinacoladas would have been my dream place to escape, but it will sure be nice to get away. Plus I have been guaranteed good company, a manicure, pedicure and endless outlet mall shopping, so it should be a lot of fun.. :)
While in Utah for a week, my dad has graciously offered to come and stay with the kids. Now if you know my dad, you are probably laughing because he doesn't seem like the type. Ironically he really is excited to hold the fort down while we are gone, so we are trusting that he does ok. We will probably come home to udder caos, but it is all good. :)
I am getting some what of an escape the 1st part of May, as a friend and I are going to Minneapolis to see Owl City in concert. I know you are asking "Who is Owl City?" They sing the song Fire Flys that you hear on the radio all of the time. This will be a quick down and back trip, but should be a lot of fun. I can't wait.
Sadely, the new medicine that they put me on for my anxiouty attacks has caused me to gain 27lbs in a short month. I am really feeling down, as I can't get but one pair of my jeans on. It has been really frustrating, but I have been trying hard to get the weight off. Down 10lbs, I am hoping to get the excess 17 off soon. It went on so quickely and as always never leaves as quick as it came.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything else that is going on.
Kids are happy, healthy, and spring is here, so we can all start getting outside more...
Tomorrow is Easter, so I hope to post Easter pictures this week...
Happy Easter Everybody :)
